A reader just bought my book El Sonido de la Noche for her two children. Strangely (and possibly this is a mistake) when I wrote the story I didn’t think much about who it would be addressed to. With this I don’t mean a particular person, but what type of person: age, gender, profession, etc. I only focused on creating a story that I liked, with the details that I like to read or see in a story.
So, without thinking about it, I dedicated myself to writing, but now that I have sold several books I realize that all my current readers are very different, women and men, some my age, others older than me and now some much younger.
So who is my book addressed to? Being objective and giving hard data, I think that a child from about twelve years old can read it without problems and there is no upper age limit, nor is there a profession and much less a gender that could enjoy it more than another.
I love that kind of story that “reads itself”, so I tried to make this one be like that. By that I mean I tried to include colloquial and familiar language, but with a story that makes you think a little, especially in the parts where Iktan and Trop, the protagonists, learn some things about magic, trade (which is what they want to dedicate themselves to), and life. That way I hope that both new and experienced readers can enjoy it. After all, for me, the main objective of a good story is to entertain, learn, and make imagination fly.
In summary (and again this is probably a mistake from a marketing point of view, but who cares), no matter who it is, this is a book for everyone who likes adventure, magic, legends, and fantasy in general, all seasoned with a little mystery.
