Those who know me know that one of the things I hate most in life is doing paperwork. I know I’m not the only one but I am the one who hates it the most. Being there in dead time just to be told that I didn’t bring the blue folder or that I missed such a copy that was not in the requirements format and that I have to go to the stationary store, which since it is the only one nearby charges very expensive for printing, fills my liver with bile. This has caused me problems more than once because to avoid doing a procedure I let time pass and when I do it it is already urgent.

This was no exception. I waited until the end to process the copyright of my book El Sonido de la Noche, (although thinking about it, can copyright be processed before the work is finished? 🤔). Yesterday they gave me the resolution and it was approved!

The best thing: It was much simpler than I thought.

I thought this procedure, like many, would be an ordeal of waiting for hours in which I would be standing looking at a number on a screen, they would send me to pay at the bank (I expected about $3000.00 MXN) and lose my day there, but in the end, I was left with a good taste in my mouth. These were the steps, times, and costs:

  • The procedure was completely online on the INDAUTOR page.
  • I did the registration in about 15 minutes, where I had to fill in my data and the book data. As on many occasions, government pages do not work with Chrome so I had to do it with Edge 😐, but at least I didn’t have to make an appointment and go to an office.
  • The payment was $300.00 Mexican pesos (about $15.00 USD) and it was by transfer, I didn’t have to go to the bank 🤩!
  • A not-so-good part was that the time to credit the payment was about 48 hours in which I had to wait.
  • I received an email of credited payment, I entered the web again and signed. The page said they were going to review everything and would have an answer in 15 business days, but I entered a day later and it was already approved.

What I’m getting at with this is that I hadn’t done the procedure out of laziness and apathy because I thought it would be much more difficult. In the end, it turned out very simple. This same thing has happened to me on multiple occasions when wanting to undertake, look for a job, or write my book. At the beginning, it seems like a monster, something unattainable or impossible to do, but once you start it becomes much, much simpler.

If you have doubts about this registration thing you can ask me with confidence.
